22 lb-ft is determined by the characteristics of aluminum. My Corvair
is spec'd for 20 lb-ft. I never had a Corvair plug loosen, and the
heads are air cooled and run upwards of 600F. I have had my S6 plugs
loosen, but none fortunately went flying.
