All:

Trying to get a feel for what to expect as I have never lowered the
subframe. Oil pan R&R calls for removal of the FRONT subframe bolts only.
I loosened the front bolts to get a feel for the movement of the subframe.
My car is on jackstands with about 1" clearance between the tires and garage
floor. Bentley says the subframe will drop by about 4" upon removal of the
front bolts.

Questions:
1. Is this a violent drop?
2. Should I support the front of the subframe and lower it gently? Related
to question #1.
3. Do I need to lift the car further or will the suspension compress to
provide the requisite clearance?

One other item. The Bentley does not call for any gasket sealant for the
Oil pan gaskets. Any needed/required?

Thanks in advance.
