Generally speaking, it would seem to me that  rear springs being "typically 
softer" are part of what gives most cars that "wonderful" balance towards 
understeer.

I would imagine that most aftermarket "street" spring sets are going to 
keep the balance front/rear that the cars come from the factory with, in 
order to keep the cars out of the armco......
