That isn't the whole story. The front design of the new A8 and A6 is a
return to the roots of the Auto Union Silver Arrows. A tribute.
I think the new A6 shows a lot of promise. Sure, you may find aspects
of similarity between other cars; however, the whole package appears
refreshing in the pictures. I'd have to see one in person. There
aren't many things you can begin to do with the four door sedan that
won't remind someone of another car some other time. It is the whole
package. Who cares if the trunk looks like a Taurus (which it doesn't
at all--look at the panel angles)? What matters is the whole car.
The new 7 & 5 series have been ridiculed because of the high trunk
line; however, the real reason they should be ridiculed is that the
whole package doesn't seem to flow together. It feels disjointed.
I hated the new A4 design, but, after seeing them around for the last
18 months or so, I have come to find the original A4 tired and mistaken
for Hondas. The new A4 design sets it apart. In another year or two,
the Japanese will have copied the lines of the A4, and it will start to
look like a Honda.
Hell, on the rare occasion I see an Eagle Premiere, I think I am seeing
a 5000, until I realize it is falling apart.
Cheers,
Brian
