[s-cars] Loud Scraping noise: Transmission? Driveshafts?

Hi Paul;
Hmmm, your comment "If I come to a stop, it takes a
while for the scraping noises to stop, as if whatever's scraping, is
rotating
to a stop." is a trifle disturbing. When you come to a stop, everything in
the driveline has stopped. The only thing rotating is the engine, flywheel,
& clutch (assuming the engine is idling). If the noises continue with the
car stopped, it may be something rubbing in the flywheel area. Since you had
this opened up to replace the clutch, maybe something is amiss in this area.

Hey guys,
The Audi gods have punished me.
Under relatively hard acceleration in 3rd gear(not past 5KRPM), the car
began
making some awful scraping noises. I thought that my entire exhaust was
hanging
on the ground. As I go faster, it gets louder. If I come to a stop, it takes
a
while for the scraping noises to stop, as if whatever's scraping, is
rotating
to a stop.
When I mean loud, I mean dominates the cabin, even with windows closed. It
sounds really loud outside of the car as well.
I just did the clutch, so could I have messed up aligning the driveshafts?
The
car engages gears fine, it shifts fine...so I don't know what else it could
be.
Paul
-always awaiting the bad news.
