The bolt on the inner bushing runs through a thin metal tube which slides
into the rubber bushing. Remove the sway bar bushing and remove the ball
joint from the strut. Remove the bolt from the inner bushing and remove the
tube by sliding needle nose pliers up inside the tube, opening the jaws to
grab the inside walls, and wiggle the tube out of the bushing. Spraying a
bit of lube on the tube and bushing may help. Mine came out OK after 200k km
and many winter salt baths. Note that this bolt also secures the subframe to
the car.

I'm trying to remove the control arm (93 S4).
Manual indicates that I have to extract a bushing (metal tube) from the
inner bushing (metal and rubber).

Anybody have a trick for this before I visit the Snap-On dealer.
