[s-cars] Magnetic filters for oil any good?

I came across this product and it looks interesting, any experience, or comments about it? I can't see it hurting anything...but is it useful or just a wast of time?

Any reasons why using a couple of simple rare earth magnet wouldn't be a cheaper alternative?

It would be interesting to get a small cheap one from Radio Shack and see the results at the next oil change...
