That idea is effective.  That also allows you to incorporate a "bend," and to 
use intercoolers that are from other vehicles... meaning the possibility of 
sourcing your cores from a junkyard, and saving some $.  You won't hear me honk 
ASW's horn much, since I do my own work... but their high HP 1.8t engine uses 
2 996tt intercoolers welded together end to end.  I believe that engine makes 
close to 400hp, so the intercooler must be doing its job.
