Hmmm... interesting, I didn't know that, thanks! I'll try it out next time it squeals... it's not a consistent squeal, only after the fan has been running a while, usually only in colder weather just like Fred's. I thought it was the heater fan because when I turn off the HVAC the squeal is gone, but I didn't know about this other fan... I'm FA-less at the moment, so once that's back up I can do some research.
Cheers, /James.

Subject: Re: Squealing Heater Fan
James, are you sure it is the heater fan that's squealing? There is a
small vent on top of the dash board in the middle. This is where the
climate control draws in cabin air for temperature regulation. A tiny
fan down the hole does the trick and is known to start squealing from
time to time (and it is LOUD and ANNOYING).
Try placing a finger over the vent next time you get the squeal and see
if this affects the noise. If so, the little fan is the culprit. Now the
good news -- mine did the same and, after a few weeks of intermittent
squealing, got quiet again. Who knows -- maybe a piece of grit worked
its way in and eventually worked its way out.

>My heater fan is starting to squeal after being on for a while, and it's darn annoying... any quick procedure to rectify this? (i.e. lubricate or fix without ripping the whole sucker out). Can this be fixed or do I have to replace my fan?
