Chris:
I installed a VDO gauge, tubing kit and Autometer pod, both available
from www.summitracing.com Total cost was less than $60.
The VDO unit is white faced and is a fairly close match to the stock
instruments. It is not backlit, but side lit (as is the Autometer one)
so it does not look the same at night. I put a red "condom" on the bulb
to simulate the stock lighting.
Installation of the pod is easy, but you will need to drill 4 holes in
the A-pillar. Most of the work involves routing the plastic tubing and
taping into the vacuum/boost line. I tapped in just before the ECU in
the passenger footwell. You will need a plastic t-connector from
www.mcmaster.com and some miniclamps to do this. For the wire lead, you
will need to tap into the parking light or instrument circuit.
Parts list:
T-connector, 5463K384
Tubing kit, VDO-150851D
VDO Gauge,, VDO-150206D
Gauge Pod, ATM-20191
Red Bulb Condoms, ATM-3214
Miniclamps for vacuum hose x 2
Wire leads and wire taps for ground and power
