[s-cars] Help: Right Rear Caliper Problems

Dave:

This is a common problem with Audi/VW rear brakes. It happened to our VW
Passat as well as my 90q20v.

The e-brake cable actuates a lever that rotates within the caliper and
this frequently gets seized as it gets exposed to all the crap kicked up
by the tires. Eastern cars are especially prone to this and in the
winter it will freeze up. In really cold weather (like now in
Vancouver), I never use my handbrake. A temporary fix is to spray a
liquid penetrant on it and work it back and forth. The permanent
solution is to get new calipers.
