[s-cars] Xenon C4 lights Installation Report

City lights (i.e. extra filament in bulbs of turn signals) are supposed to stay on for North America, in Europe these are single filament (so no city lights). Did you disable or bypass the DRL (Daytime Running Light's) voltage reducer. This resistance cuts the DRL's down to 8 volts and reduces daytime running light output, the ballasts for the HID's need a full 12 Volts. So you have the option of either leaving this unit disconnected or splicing to keep you DRL's.

Cheers, /James.

Subject: [s-cars] Xenon C4 lights Installation Report

Hello All,

As some of you know, I spent the better part of last weekend putting the O.E.
Xenon lights in the 95.5 Avant.

Here is what I have accomplished so far:

The cabling for the lights is - Red (+12v unswitched), Brown - Earth, Yellow
(Low beam "ON"), Black - Sense Wire for Bulb Monitor circuit.

I took the 12v from the Jumper connection on the firewall (fused 25A). Earth
is through two bolts, one on each side. The on circuit is taken via an inline
tap from the existing harness.
I currently have insulated spade connectors plugged into the existing harness
on the ballast module but that will change (let me know if you guys have used
a good weatherproof 25 amp / 4 conductor connector)

The city lights are also wired through (although, I am wondering about the
stress on the 18 gauge wire that now has to feed two bulbs) , Also, does anyone
know if the city lights are supposed to go off if you turn low beams on? If
so, I will have to relay them to shut off when the low beams come on.

I will take some photos of the install once I complete the final harness
termination but this was about as easy/hard as I thought it would be. About the
same time as a HID retrofit kit with the added benefit of having an OE item
(now, until it breaks)

Thanks for all the help again.

Nick
