Hey Dave,
	Thanks for the good advice.  I have NO intent to compete w/ Hap
or Mike Pederson...I am a fanatic..but not crazy to compete w/ those
guys.  Maybe in beer drinking ;-)  Really I just want a FAST and
reliable Audi at a good price.  I only pay $200 per mo in payments for
my 10K car.  And I bought this car because I wanted to use the
additional savings from my 2001.5 2.7T to modify the car.  I hear ya
about the getting sucked in thing.  It can be addicting like a
drug..mine "Good Belgian Ales".  Like you said it would suck that I do
all this work and I get in a wreck or loose a transmission (that is
next).
	Regardless I will never leave the Audi Family...granted driving
a modified car w/ 150K miles on it does make it more challenging ;-)

the bottomless money pit of "improvements".  I am not saying don't do it
(rods, pistons, etc) but just be aware of what you are doing and have a
fixed budget.  We already lost one S-car club member here (Vancouver)
who just kept going and going with the improvements until he found he
was in over his financial head and ended up selling the car (the Devil)
to get out of the cycle.  

Its like a drug, I know.  But moderation is a good thing.  Just 'cause
there are modifications that can be made, it doesn't mean you have to
make them.  If you think you are going to compete with Hap, or Mance or
Rod Haney (the latter two no longer have their S-cars for various
reasons) then think again.  Hap is always going to win.

But hey, that's just my view point from six years on the 'list.
