I'm not convinced that to be good advice Hap. With the advent of audis twisted stretch bolts, I'm not convinced that the ARP is necessarily a step forward. Over the old 10vt bolts maybe. A new head bolt installed properly (wet threads and washer land area)on an S car can take a whole lot of boost pressure. Put another way, a lot of folks running high boost in subpar setups (over 8.5CR) don't seem to be regularly blowing head gaskets.
Qstory... The sales manager for ARP had a couple private posts to me about a year ago wrt this exact topic. I was looking for hard data to support his claim that ARP's outperform the stock twisted head bolts. I was told that to be proprietary information, but all "race" teams used them. Sales testimonials and guilt by association seeemed to be the only offer. My claim is that if a stock new audi head bolt is going to blow a head gasket, the head gasket will blow with the ARP. I got no response to that....
WRT the metal head gasket, I'm pretty sure the fiber 20vt gasket is NLA, certainly NOS if you happen to get stuck with one. Even the German aftermarket head gasket sets come with the metal gasket in the 20vt application.
