[s-cars] Fed up with IR system !

Ok, I've just about had it with my IR system in my car (93 S4)... at least once a month I have to reset the system because it get's out of wack... (i.e. When the alarm activates the doors unlock, and when the alarm deactivates the doors lock), it's driving me nuts!!!... I suspect this in some part has to do with the underground parking and florescent lights, each time I forget and try to use the IR here it has a good chance of reversing the system... but lately it's been doing it outside, maybe it's the cold. Either way I'm fed up with the IR !!! 

Two questions for the list:

a) Any way to prevent the IR from get de-synchronized? (preventive, improve, fix...)

b) Any recomendations to switch to RF? (this would be nice...)
