Ha Ha Ha and tee hee hee - I'm chuckling 'cause it's so absurd!
Okay, I do not do my own maintenance 'cept an oil change and easy stuff.
So, when I had a new thermostat installed 'cause I noticed the same behaviour ( actually on the day I drove the car home from the point of purchase), I used a local German car shop (mostly B!mmrs) and the entire thing was about $104.00
That's the tax, the part, the labor, and any additional coolant needed - and disposal of the bad part. You *are* joking with us now, I'm sure as I write this that I fell right into it!
