High quality paint? In the context of Audis the phrase brings tears to
my eyes. The Greenies in Germany have forced the Auto companies to use
water based paints. What saves Audis from disgrace is galvanizing. In
the case of my pearl 95 S6, I have tiny spots on the trunk lid where the
clear coat (all 10 microns of it) went missing under the previous owner
(pine sap?). There are bubbles on the side of the hood from internal
corrosion.
If one wants high quality paint, he either lays on the requisite n coats
of succeedingly wetter acrylic lacquer (now banned in some localities),
or uses Imron or its updated clones, depending on preference for
repairability vs. hardness.
