I can't imagine that a head rebuild is appropriate for the age and miles. BG
is the best I have come across for cleaning carboned heads/valves. It is
only available to repair facilities as far as I know. I can't believe it's a
bad turbo either. More like continual use of cheap oil and/or gas and too
far between oil changes. I would go to another mechanic with more
experience/knowledge of this motor unless you have found this one to be
trustworthy/knowledgeable otherwise.

 call from my mechanic, and what I
thought was a bad turbo seal is not. I believe the  guides have let some oil
make its way into the combustion chamber, leaving deposits on the valves and
the seats. The leakdown test showed significant leakage in several
 cylinders.

 looking for any thoughts, BTDT with this type of problem.
