Next do the same test but this time put in about 50ml of
oil in to each cylinder and see if the numbers improve will give you a
good idea if your rings are leaking or not.  If it doesn't improve time
for a ring job.

Cody, I'm not sure you said this correctly.  I think if the compression
doesn't improve after adding oil, that means it wasn't leaking past the
rings in the first place, and you should suspect a valve problem.   Leakdown
is much better though, because severely broken rings (as opposed to just
worn) or damaged piston ring land will leak so bad that the oil trick will
show no improvement, which you could easily misdiagnose as a valve problem.
BTDT, & felt stupid upon retesting after bolting a new head on my urq.
