[s-cars] EDL questions

Hey everyone. Having owned two FWD audis, I am ready to tackle this winter
with my 1995.5 S6, which has quattro IV with EDL(no diff locker button). I
am curious to understand exactly how it works. I understand the theory but
am interested more in how I would know when it's working on this particular
car. When does it engage and does it engage/disengage periodically or does
it engage, lock the rear/front diff and then stay engaged until 30mph or so?
I'm curious to test out if it works at all. It finally snowed here last
night and I had a chance to try the car out. Every once in a while, there is
a faint repetitive clicking coming from the driveline when applying
throttle; would this be edl? Noticed quite a bit of oversteer when applying
throttle on curves; I guess this can be attributed to the crappy summer
tires which will be changed soon. Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks!
