[s-cars] Could it be the GP RS2 turbos are "over" spec?

I second this Dave...

It would cost a small fortune to modify all those turbos in the GP. And what would they modify? Add a bigger K26 compressor housing? What would they do with the old one? Add a bigger compressor wheel? Would mo$t likely need to $machine$ the hou$ing on a CNC (cha-ching).

I think your problem lies elswhere. If you have Pastore SW, it isn't there. Mine doesn't ping at 2.9 bar and 91 octane, Cody at 6,000 feet and 2.8 bar doesn't ping, look elsewhere, bad maf, bad knock sensor, bad plugs, fuel delivery, coils/POS, is this helping??

I would say "BS" to all this, these turbos are bone stock RS2 turbos and
nothing is different to them. If Dahlback had modified the turbos, they
couldn't be called K24-7200 anymore. In my experience tuning 3 cars running
turbos from this GP, there's no difference, they are normal.

Dave, you either have a fuel supply problem, bad gas, or poor programming,
not meant to bash the one who sold you the software though, I don't even
know who he is.

Cheers,

Mihnea

Hmmm... One lister responded to my question about the GP RS2 turbos off line and said:

"Tim McLean tells me that Dahlbach did infact modify the turbos for increased efficiency and flow, so this is not surprising to learn. I have been seeing 24-25 psi with stock exhaust (and no pinging)....I am using Dahlbach software that Tim programmed specifically for my setup. It could be there's something in their code that 'smoothes' out this issue?"

Maybe/Probably. If this is true, how do I get out of this situation?
The Dahlback software seemed too expensive so I passed and went elsewhere. Re-tuned chips after some wide band O2 sensor results? So much for saving money on a GP. (four letter expletive deleted).
