[s-cars] Could it be the GP RS2 turbos are "over" spec?

Dave: The wierd thing is I live in Vancouver BC. My elevation is about
sea level to 200 ft most of the time. Even Whistler (about 120 km
away) is only 2200 ft at the Village. As a result, my air density is
alot more than Colorado, i.e. I need more fuel to stave off pinging. On
the plus side, we get 94 Chevron (with Techron). The only time I have
had lower octane is when I went to Seattle three weeks ago (before the
RS2 swap) when I had to buy some (10 US gal) of 92 Shell to get home.
Last weekend when I went down to Burien (south of Seattle) I added 9L of
toluene to my tank (about 3/4 full of a mix of 92 and 94) before I
filled it with 94 Chevron. I did 460 km on 48 L of this mixture at
speeds in the 120 to 130 kph range with the occasional gentle "test" to
150 to 160 kph (radar detector on, no traffic in front of me). VMAP was
at 2.8. No pinging that I noticed (I was gentle and just squeezed the
throttle, no abrupt WOT). However, I don't want to have to run toluene
all the time just to survive. There must be a problem and I have to
find the solution. Dave F.
