Yup, the Bentley method breaks the gimbals.

Remove it by moving the glass to the four extremes (i.e. full down& full
right, full down & full left, etc.). This opens up the four corners. Reach
in with a long thin screwdriver and pop each snap mount off.

You can epoxy the broken gimbals back together if they aren't mangled too
badly.

Does anyone know a better way to remove the glass from the driver's side
mirror. I have tried removing the glass as it is outlined in the Bentley
manual.
This has resulted in one broken motor. Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
