Well, the S6 is far more reliable than the 5000. Audi has managed to
resolve a great majority of the issues the 5000 had over time, and the
S4/S6 are the result of that. I think you will find that you are
spending a lot less time on maintenance.

That said, it's still going to be a car nearing 10 years old, you have
to expect some issues. I have had my 1993 S4 for over 2 years now and
have only had 1 or 2 trivial issues with the car in that time. But
things will go wrong on a 1995-1997 car, and when they do go wrong,
you will find the S6 is quite a bit more expensive to repair.
