Basically the 95.5 cars were really intended to be 1996 models, but due to changes to US emissions laws (OBD II) that took effect in 1996, Audi re-VINned the cars are 95 models.  However, as they often do, Audi "phased in" changes as they ran out of parts.  For instance, early model 95's had the older style steering wheel, and avant headrests can be almost any style.

My car is a 1995.5.  I specifically looked for .5 to get the wider first gear.

I see there was a MY break in the middle of 95.  What's 
different/better/worse on 95.5 cars?
