[s-cars] New noise and less power - update

a little update -

I am getting a sound around 3500 rpm - 4500 rpm, best I can describe it
is "while blowing over a reed". At the same time I have less power and
pulled the 2231 code, which according to sjmautotechnik.com is : 
"2231 (Blink Fault Code), VAG1551/2 Fault Code
Number 00533 Idle Speed Control, Idle speed adaptation limit exceeded,
Sticky ISV, air leak."

Current belief is that the BPV's diaphraghm has ripped. Because the car
has 218,000 miles on it I have decided it's a good tiem to replace it. 
Is this a reasonably guess?
