The T3 hybrids are a much closer match with the RS2 turbo. I have run a T3
and currently run a T4 hybrid variant T04E 57 trim. The T4s are significantly
larger than RS2s and require a lot of other modding. The T3s are much easier to
deal with but do require some extra wrenching because the water and oil lines
don't match up like the RS2 which is basically plug and play. TEC in Golden,
303-271-3997, will sell you a T3 for a great price and they have a kit of the
lines and fittings you'll need to match things up. Even with the fittings,
you're still looking at more work than an RS2.

So, what else besides price would encourage an s-car maniac to go with any
of the non plug and play Garretts? Tuneability and aerodynamics... That's
right, tuneability and aerodynamics. For tuneability, TEC offers 7 different stages
of trim with the T3s, 3 as quick spool and 4 as high flow. For years, Garrett
has been leading the turbocharger industry in R&D. They've got a huge
involvement in diesel technology and we get to piggyback on that R&D. Besides, KKK
and Garrett are now the same company. The RS2's internal aerodynamics just
aren't a match for the Garrett's. Way back when, Mike Pederson and I did some side
by side runs with our 2 cars. At that time I had a Garrett T3 and he had an
RS2. The other difference was that he ran an RS2 exhaust cam and I was stock. He
did have an advantage in the lowend but the midrange and topend belonged to
the Garrett. We figured that the lowend was directly attributable to the RS2
cam. Is that enough info?
