[s-cars] 1993 S4. anyone know what this pipe is for?

It's a vent tube for the battery. There should be a hose going from that to
the vent cap of the battery, if the battery has one. HTH

Hi all.
 
I've just picked up a 1993 S4 Avant. Fiddling around (like you do!) I found
a small pipe that looks a bit like windscreen washer hose coming out through
the floor under the rear seat base just behind the battery. The pipe has a
small 90degree elbow on the end and is not connected to anything!!! I just
hope its not a breather from the fuel tank venting to the battery!!! :-o
