[s-cars] funny noise after tbelt

If the tensioner fails, it's catastrophic.
It can take out the serpentine belt which can take out the timing belt.
If the timing belt isn't timing anymore you leave valves exposed to the
pistons...
You don't want to go there.

Subject: [s-cars] funny noise after tbelt

About 2 weeks ago I had the t-belt, t-stat, water pump etc done. Now that
it's warm enough to drive with the windows down, I can hear an odd noise up
front.

The audi manufacturers belt tensioner was not replaced but the bearing was
switched out as per Bob Pastore's part number. Car runs great but now makes
an odd ratcheting noise. Is constant, never goes away and making me very
nervous. Is it possible that the bearing when inserted was misaligned? If
the tensioner bearing were to fail, what happens? Any BTDT's
