Greg,
Gotcha, no sweat. But you can't imagine how many hotshoes are out there with zero experience and knowledge that want to skip all the "boring" stuff and go dicing.
You just have to show that resume and get yourself slotted in intermediate.....then you probably go out once with instructor, they sign you off assuming you drive well, and you're on your own.
Starting off in intermediate pretty much guarantees you can avoid the novice classes and exercises. But I won't vouch for how much less you'll avoid eating tires with a nearly two-ton s-car on a track.
Try www.tracquest.com, pretty liberal self-policing rules.

Bruce and All,
I'm sorry about the tone of my note. Not intended. I'm interested in getting quality track time in my daily driver. I am looking for experiences specific to driver conduct as I feel this is a huge issue at racing event and at some lapping day... This is a show stopper for me. Also I would like to avoid skid pad and other exercises from a time and abuse of tre perspecitve. I don't intend to argue their value. Again its a potential show stopper for me to find out that I have a full day of cone events at a driving event. I've done it and I will not spend a whole day off from work to do it. I have other skills that need more work.
As for experience, I am moderately experience.
