[s-cars] Climate Control Issues

Hi S-heads,

Before heading down the slippery slope of HP mods to the S6 Avant, I've got to address some issues I'm having with the climate control system. My wife is impressed by handling and horsepower - but they take a back seat to her comfort!

The symptom is that a couple of months ago I had full-on heat except in the low or off setting. Now it's full-on AC! But I at least have the capability of turning of the AC compressor, and I find myself fiddling with the settings everytime I'm in the car. Kinda defeats the purpose of having an 'automatic' climate control!

Anyway, I've run the diagnostic on the CC head and got the following diagnostic trouble codes:

-8.5 Temperature Regulator Flap Static Block
-11.7 Central Flap Sporadic Block
-15.7 Air Flow Flap Sporadic Block

I've queried the archives and have found that some of these flaps are easily accessible whereas others require the removal of the dash (or a contortionist). I'm not afraid of dash removal (I'ved done so on other Audis), but would like to avoid it! Could these codes be indicative of another problem, like maybe the CC head itself? Does the Bentley have a better diagnostic path for this (I'm waiting on mine, but wouldn't mind getting started on this this weekend)? Any BTDTs?

Thanks!
Paul
