[s-cars] s4/s6 gauge cluster? or ... what it must feel like to be the only guy with a dull kitchen knife at a gun fight

But Joe, why would I want an HKS EVC when I already have an Apex'i AVC-R?
What are you thinking? Trade four multifunction, but otherwise
incomprehensible buttons for two simple dials?

As far as I know, one CAN if one is so inclined, use the AVC-R display not
only as a boost gauge, but as a tach (simultaneously) &/or at least two or
three other functions, the exact nature or purpose of which escape me at the
moment, but include in addition to rpm & boost/vacuum (I think) (c) vehicle
speed; (d) throttle position; (e) solenoid valve duty cycle; and (f)
injector duty cycle. According to the instruction manual, you can have
anything from 1 item to up to 4 of the six on display at any one time. If
you like, you can ask the damn thing to data log the information for up to a
max of @ 1 minutes worth (1 channel of data) to a minimum of 15 seconds (if
you're logging 4 channels.) You can "freeze" data on screen, if not what's
happening outside the car whilst you go careening down the road. Hell, with
this thing who has time to look where one is going.

Boost however, is only displayable as "kg/cm^2" which, at least to me, seems
to be a some what obscure scale of measurement for US based cars ~ not BAR,
and not PSI, neither fish, nor fowl. Joe it's just not as exciting to say
"Wow, look at that! The car is making 1.32 Kg/cm^2" Somehow it doesn't
trip of the tongue quite a facile as "Hey, baby ever see a turbo push a car
at 19 psi?" Vacuum however comes up in "mm/hg" very impressive to say,
"Look, this thing is pulling more vacuum than a hot date with Madonna, 240
mm/hg!" Much sexier that "

The readouts are in breath taking LED blue, either in digital form (with
peak hold), or digital simulation of analog form (pretty useless IMO, but it
must be significant to the ricers since someone went through the trouble to
program this), or as a bar or line graph. This thing has more functions
than a $1,000 Swiss Army knife or James Bond's Rolex. And if program "A"
isn't just right, somehow one can switch to program "B" or in case of a 2nd
Al-Qaeda attack on New York, there is always "scramble" mode.

There are so many functions in fact, I'm willing to bet that I have at least
twice the functionality, at the cost of 1/2, probably less, the utility of
any HKS EVC-V! But hey ... if what you are looking to do is blow some one
away with display fireworks, this things got them. It's even got a "ghost"
mode, what ever that is.

FWIW, I have been trying to get ride of the damn thing and turn control of
everything back to the Bosch Motronic ECU ever since it got put in the car.
