Marc,
I did this mod with my sedan and it was a straight swap. No phaffing around
to make it fit. The only mod I did was to disconnect the 5W connector in the
bulb holder as we here in Canada have to have DRLs which Audi implemented by
turning all the lights on all the time. So the 5W ambers was on all the
time.
Are you sure you have avant lenses which may be different than sedan ones?
By the way, the lenses I have are from a 95-97 A6 which are red but flash
amber which are different to the earlier versions which had amber lense for
the turning signal.
