Hi Audifans,
Will it fit? I heard the 2000 S4 trannys fit, but I was wondering about the proconten stuff.
Thanks,
Gary Lewis

Subject: RE: [s-cars] prodiag vs. vag-com?
I think that you cannot go wrong either way. I have talked to both guy's and they are very nice. I have never tried Prodiag but my experience with vag com has been great.
I have used it to tune my car and taken day's worth of data on advance, "load" speed etc... For instance, Mihnea put in a 0 deg advance when the knock sensor hit, I used a spread sheet to look at the data and find when this occurred over day's of driving, or if it ever occurred. This way I knew that under lot's of conditions I had good programming that never hit the knock sensor.
I also used it to extract the advance curve, since I was doing weird things with the maf I didn't really know if the motronic's basic mapping was affected. Vag com has a way to place a marker so that you can find the beginning and end of some important data through out several day's of acquisition. Like my typical start would be at the beginning and end of a full rpm 3rd or 4th gear run. I never knew when I would have an opportunity so I just kept gathering data and when an opportunity presented itself I would click on a marker and so the run.

Subject: [s-cars] prodiag vs. vag-com?
I'm looking at buying either the Ross-Tech Vag-com or the Prodiag from Shadetree software.
The Prodiag is nice for the portability factor, but I'm sort of turned off by the requirement of binding the software to one PDA (My father wants to split the cost with me.. its one thing to mail the cable, another to mail my PDA which I need for day to day use.. and I'd rather not buy a separate one if necessary). Also, another benefit that I see of the laptop based Vag-com is better output of logging data. The prodiag dumps to memopad files which are limited to 4k in size.. I see that as being a pain in the arse if you want to log any quantity of data.
So what other pros/cons should I know about from those of you who have tried both?
Thanks!
