[s-cars] sicness continues

Kirby,
Your abc points are absolutely correct.
That said, even though this is early in the game with this set up for
me, IMHO for the sickest of the sick seeking to put all the power to the
pavement asap, it is great. I think it truly transforms the car. And,
as I smiled my way into the office this morning, I thought that it could
become a default standard in a similar manner to the Stromung exhaust
and Eibach Bilstein sport suspension.
My wife has yet to drive it, but with her being of the "I can do
anything a man can do" school of mental idiocy, I am a little afraid
that she just may like it. Last time she drove it she reported uttering
a "whoah!" whilst pulling out around some slow mover. So, far though
she still prefers the A8, but now refers to it as the "lazy boy."
That's just my .002, ICBW.

I recently had the same clutch setup installed, the disk part as
somewhat of a surprise as my speculative choice would have been metallic
pucks but with springs. I can concur that this disk will not slip, at
least without exceptional effort, and even then all one gets is a few
chatters before locking. The plus side is of course being able to
launch the car and not having the clutch slipping all the way to redline
in first, as my OEM clutch did. However, there are a few negatives.
a) Without any clutch slip, the drivetrain gets jerked and the CM joints
get pounded unless rpms are closely matched
b) Without any clutch slip, during shifting torque transients will be
put into the tires that may cause loss of traction in snow
c) Without any clutch slip, refined acceleration levels are difficult
because the action of rpm matching simultaneous with power matching is
very difficult, at least for me. Fortunately, my wife hasn't been in
the car since the change. :)
