I also run the SSR Comps in a 17x8.5, 35mm offset, with 255/40X17 Victoracers 
and rub at full lock on the inside of my wheel wells on both sides. You have 
to take into consideration any modifications you have done to your suspension 
and brakes. The hats on my front discs are 4mm thicker than the stock discs 
and I run a full set of coilovers with lower ride height. Changes like these 
reduce the amount of available wheel well space.

BTW, the stock wheels on my 95.5 S6 were 16x7.5 with a 38mm offset Speedline, 
if I remember correctly.
