[s-cars] Rear diff seal

Transmission Output seal 01A 409 400 $17.80 (1.5hrs)
Differential axle shaft seal 017 525 400A $17.75 (2.5hrs)

Had a shop do the work so got charged 4 hours labor & a new transmission
fill plug $2.15 & some seal gasket $4.15.

I've been watching your posts with interest as I too have a leaky rear
diffy.  I will be having a closer look at it once it warms up here in
MI.  It will only put a drop on the floor once per week.  Not really a
big deal, but annoying nevertheless.  I was expecting mine to be a seal
leak, but your post will have me checking the area you refer to.

Even though you are in Vancouver it's much too cold to be lying on your
back under your Audi in Feb.....

But what is the seal?  There is nothing listed in ETKA, not even a tube
of goop.

Gabriel: The normal point of leaks is l where the drive flange 17 goes
through the seal 19.  If you are leaking between 1 and 8,  it must be a
gasket/sealant (goop) issue.  Dave F.
