Doesn't sound like mine is as severe as yours. Only very fine pitting,
uniformly distributed over the entire glass area. (No wiper scratches)
If it works on yours, it should work on mine....

Subject: RE: [s-cars] Windshield replacement.
There are compounds out there that are intended to polish glass, most of
them are based on
cerium oxide, some in crude form of mineral ?rhodite?, some in finely
refined form. I have
eastwood's version in my garage for almost half a year (I would say it
seems to be crude
form of cerium oxide), but have not tried it yet - was waiting for
warmer weather. DO NOT
use it in your garage - it is extremely fine powder that is not going to
leave your lungs
if it gets there - do it outside, and wash your car thouroughly after
polishing is
over. In addition, that mineral have some natural radioactivity, so,
again, it is bad
to get it in your lungs.
Another way to get this compound is to call auto-glass companies around.
>From my
experience, half of them do not know about it because all they do is
just installing new
glass and patching holes, another half have it and uses it, but will not
sell it to us.
Some people had better luck than I with local shops.
Disclaimer: I have not tried it yet so I do not know if it will save or
ruin a windshield.
>From what I know it can do both ;) I am going to try it soon, since
previous owner did nt
seemed to bother with replacing wipers or was a big fan of using dry
wipers on glass -
and there are bad burn marks on windshield to addition of usual stone
chips.
