Nice and shiny, yes. Some German figured it out during one of the world wars.
To all considering this, resist the temptation to go over 50/50 water/alcohol mixture. The goal of water injection is simply to remove heat through vaporization. Many a study looked at amounts over 50/50, and the conclusion is always to add higher octane gasoline, and go back to more water. If anyone doubts, do a search.
