Craig,
The POS is an electrical component that sends a signal to each individual 
coil when it needs to fire.  In short, it replaces part of the function of a set 
of points in old distributor cars.  There are 2 of them, each has 3 
channels... and the capability of triggering 3 coils.  Since we only have 5 coils, one 
channel goes unused.

They are located beneath the plastic cover centered on your firewall, and 
they are towards the passenger side.  They have a small black plastic housing 
about the size of a pack of matches.  There are 2 electrical connectors attached 
to each unit.  When a channel fails, there are several different misfiring 
scenarios that can result.
