[s-cars] IR keys and their battery

I've never had any problems with resetting the door locks after changing the
batteries. There is a procedure - check the archives. There is no fear of
locking yourself out.

I'm picking up some new battery(s) today. HTH said I'll have to resych
the doors locks afterwards. Any idea how to do this? Is there a risk
of getting locked out while resynching? Or should I just stop being
lazy and look through the website for info on how to do this?
Thanks,
Kevin

Very strange. The receiver must be picking up a signal that is starting
to open the locks even though the key isn't pointed at the receiver.
You should see the IR light from the key if you look closely. Have you
tried a new battery? Bob 93 S4

When I stick the key in the keyhole I can't turn it to unlock the door.
If I push the button, while the key is in the keyhole, I'll then be
allowed to turn the key.

Kevin,
Sounds like a battery problem. I don't know what you mean when you say
you need to push it to get the door lock tumbler to turn.. Bob 93 S4

I have a 93 S4 and was wondering about the infrared key. I don't know
if it has ever worked. When I push the button on the key should the
doors unlock automatically? Currently when I push the button I don't
see the bulb light up on the key itself, but sometimes I need to push it
to get the door lock tumbler to turn. Do I need a battery?
Thanks in advance,
Kevin

I am running a K&N Cone filter and take care to clean and oil every 3-4
months. Now wheather the wear on my old block was a result of dirty air
or poor maintaince by previous owner is unknown.

Hmmm, so, then installing my K&N 2 years ago and not touching it once
since prolly wasn't overly bright then eh? Heh heh. Damn, where did
all those months go? So, I should put the new OE paper one I bought 3
months ago in then, huh? In the immortal words from the Bob Rossato
school of installing parts... "I'll get to it"...
-P inducer looked fine in Nov. at least K.
