"Squish" seems to be some special subset of the combustion chamber
volume. I gather there are even engines designed without "squish" that
KB offers to turn into squish motors. I know Corky Bell in the new
"Supercharged" book, in discussing lowering CR for a particular
application, warns against doing anything to substantially upset a
motors existing "squish" features, or according to Cokey's warning one
can transform a previously well behaved motor at 9.x to 1 that never
pinged, into one that will ping mercilessly with a lower CR of 8.x to 1.
It's less clear to me how one can be sure he hasn't unwittingly
disturbed the Gods of Squish other than relying on the aftermarket
piston manufacture to provide assurances ....
Where, when or how this occurs, or even how often I've no idea. It is
however an experience I think I'd prefer to avoid learning about 1st
hand.

Mike, in my simple world the squish area I was referring to is the total
volume of the combustion chamber when the piston is TDC.
