I'm in the same boat as you, the software being the hurdle. These guys seem to have decent prices on turbos, and say they're coming out with their 20v tubular manifolds in June. http://www.034efi.com For ~$1800, you can buy a K26/TO4E, appropriate oil/water fittings, and exhaust header... that's not much more than the an averagely priced RS2 turbo. Should definitely be capable of making more power... just need to figure out a downpipe and software. Hrm...

The time for turbo upgrades is approaching, and Ive
got a couple questions. I've done lots of research on
the well-worn path of the RS2 upgrades, but they seem
very expensive for what you get. For less $$ than an
RS2 or one of those "RS2 Comp" jobs i can buy a new
Garret GT30R ball bearing turbo, and instead of an RS2
manifold I can have a custom one made. Anyone here
with experience running a Garret GT or T (T3/T4 or
T4)series turbo on an UrS? I can afford to take the
car off the road for a bit to have the fabrication
done. Getting all the hardware in the car is the easy
part, I'm looking for software and tuning advice, or a
source of a tubular manifold if anyone's already had
one made... The car currently has H&R/Bilstein
suspension, 3" stromung (on the way) and an ASW chip
with VMAP sensor.
