the valvoline synpower brake fluid is actually rated DOT 5.1.
it's the best street brake fluid i've found that doesn't come
with a large pricetag attached.

however, it is no better than marginal for track use.  i can
boil it at will in my spec miata, which as you all may know has 
maybe 110 hp and weighs 2200 lbs.  i was running at thunderhill (not
a hard braking track) on old 185/60/14 race tires (not a lot of grip).
i bled my brakes several times over the weekend.

it'll be just great in a street car, though, and that's what i use
in my '92 S4.

for the racetrack, i like motul 600.  i'm not too crazy about ATE,
which never quite boiled outright but left me with a low pedal at the
end of the day.  it just doesn't seem to recover from localized boiling
very well.
