Surprise, surprise I didn't find any broken spring...just alot of
corrosion!

I have been soaking it in transmission fluid per a suggestion by
Dwayne.

Also looks like the other car's door handle is starting to stick, might
have to tear into it and do the same thing.

Thanks for your suggestions!
Looks like I will be saving myself ~$140 because of the knowledge of
this list.
