[s-cars] The great coolant debate...

Oh please. The color is not indicative of the phosphate level. I
haven't seen any coolant container (in the USA) for more than a decade,
maybe 2 decades, even in the "auto-junk" stores, that doesn't say
phosphate free. My mechanic, Tim McLean at Northern European
Automotive, uses the Audi stuff native to my 90qs, which is greenish.
He found the Audi pinkish stuff that came with my S6 to cause a higher
rate of corrosion. Scientific study? No, but you can be sure I'm not
panicking because of the color of my coolant, because the older Audi
stuff was also phosphate free. Too many cars with aluminum heads and
other parts have been built since the 1975 Rabbit for the coolant
manufacturers to not jump on the bandwagon of phosphate free. (Note
that IIRC, the 1975 Rabbit cam with greenish phosphate free coolant.)

However, I will entertain input of specific brands currently available
for sale that contain phosphates so I can avoid them.
