I believe aftermarket chips are set to run a little rich in order to
maintain safety at high boost.  Perhaps all the boosting during a hard
run is causing your cats to complain a little bit.

P.S. I have also heard a bad gas cap can cause that smell.  Not sure why
or how though.  How's your air filter and oxygen sensor?

When I'm pushing hard then shut off my car, the exhaust smells like
sulfur. Is this a sign of a bad cat or is the fuel to blame? FWIW, I'm
using Chevron 94 octane.
