calvin,
in spec miata, '90-'93 must weigh 2300 lbs with driver and fuel, and
'94-'97 must weigh 2400 lbs.
in spec miata, you are allowed to remove the passenger seat and some interior
bits (but not all of it). you must remove the covertible top. you can take
out the spare tire and the catalytic converter. the passenger seat doesn't
weigh that much, because it's fairly small and it's not power.
on the other hand, you have to put a roll cage in it, and a full cage
can use about 100 lbs of tubing. virtually everybody runs a hardtop.
2363 sounds about right for a stock miata with power steering and AC.
by the way, i neglected to mention that the MN12 t-bird has SLA front
suspension in addition to the IRS. i just saw one at the junkyard
yesterday. it's a pretty good chassis.
the UrS4 is heavy, but so is the BMW M5. a lot has to do with weight
distribution and suspension design.
