Calvin, you said (I SAY (QUIETLY) IN CAPS):

A couple of questions:

1) You said that when you tried to crank it after the incident you
didn'y
hear anything???? How would a serpentine and timing belt cause this,
unless
it totally locked the engine up in which case there is obviously lots of

damage. YUP. THAT'S WHAT I THINK. LOTS OF DAMAGE. THE ENGINE NO LONGER
WANTS TO BE CRANKED. THINGS HAVE BANGED INTO OTHER THINGS AND THEY ARE
TIRED AND DON'T WANT TO GET UP.

2) How does the serpentine belt knock the timing belt off that is inside
a
cover??? Has anybody else seen this happen? READ MY SERPENTINE BELT
POSTING ABOVE. READ FRED MUNRO'S AND STEVE POWER'S POSTINGS. THIS
PROBLEM HAPPENS AND IS NOT ISOLATED. ITS NOT AN EPIDEMIC BUT SOMETHING
THAT WE ALL NEED TO CHECK AND PREVENT. I WAS LUCKY. FRED WAS LUCKY.
STEVE WASN'T. KEN MADSEN PROBABLY WASN'T (SORRY, KEN).

Something doesn't seem right here. YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THAT. AUDI COULD
HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB OF ENGINEERING TO PREVENT THE SERPENTINE BELT
FROM IMPACTING THE TIMING BELT. WE, AS OWNERS, HAVE TO DO OUR PART AND
NOT NEGLECT THE SERPENTINE BELT AND/OR THE TENSIONER.
