You should be able to buy a kit to refasten the mirror clip to the glass.
I remember at one point there was a kit available at Canadian Tire.

and dad isn't too pleased.

Anyone got an idea on the best way to stick it back on the window?  It
looks like the fastening plate was embedded in the glass.  I used super
glue and it seems to be holding, but don't want to be embarrassed when
it flies into my lap while taking clients to lunch tomorrow.
